Custard was a favorite childhood dessert for most, and these custard tartlets are guaranteed to satisfy your nostalgia. Soft and smooth on the inside with a light and crumbly crust, they are an absolute treat! If you are craving a creamy custard tart but are feeling reluctant to go through the usual hassle then I've got you covered.

With this recipe, you will not have to 'pre - bake' or 'par- bake' anything, nor will you have to find baking beans and beads to make sure that your tart doesn't come out wonky. It's not an overly sweet dessert and therefore even those among us who do not have much of a sweet-tooth are going to love them! For me, personally, this recipe is a go to for any function. So, lets get baking!
Quick tutorial

Is there a substitute for heavy cream?
I made this recipe using curd instead of heavy cream and I must say that the results were delightful. Curd is readily available in most grocery stores and is also a cost effective substitute to this recipe.
What changes can be made in the recipe?
If you have a bit of a sweet tooth, you can add an extra tablespoon of sugar to the filling. However, I do not recommend making any other changes to this recipe
Do we have to freeze the unbaked tartlet shells?
Yes, it is critical that you do so. Freezing prevents the shells from shrinking when it bakes.
