The danish pastry originated in Denmark and the name Danish actually originated from the bakery workers going on strike back in 1850. It was called Vienna Bread by the Danes, but to us, we call it Danish.
The danish is well known for being a puff pastry filled with creme patisserie, but in this recipe, we are going to change that up and fill it with this almost cheesecake-like filling and that just makes everything so much better.
